Parents and schools need to work together for the betterment of the students. Parents play an important role in providing support and building the confidence of their children. Parents should check some of the tips or activities they can use to develop their children’s confidence and improve their school experience.

Parents/guardians are asked each year to sign and return a Field Trip Permission Slip for their student to be able to attend field trips during the year.
Parents have the ability to log into Canvas as observers to see their students' progress. Access to Canvas can be found here: salidaschools.instructure.com
Parents are also invited to join the Salida Middle School Parent Teacher Organization. Involvement in the PTO is a way to be more involved in your child's education, be an active part of the SMS community, get to know the school staff and administrators, stay informed about SMS events, and most importantly, be involved and make a positive impact on your child's educational experiences. Family membership in PTO is $10 and membership forms can be picked up in the SMS office.
PTO sponsors events like the incoming 5th grade mixer, a book fair, and the SMS talent show.
